Essex Recycling Centres to close until further notice
All Essex Recycling Centres have today, Monday 23 March, closed until further notice.
The decision has been made in response to strict government guidelines urging people to stay in their homes to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Simon Walsh said: “The decision to close our recycling centres has not been taken lightly but is essential in reiterating to residents to stay home to protect themselves and others.”
Those that were planning to visit a recycling centre are being asked to hold on to their items until the centres reopen.
No items such as DIY waste or recycling should be placed into kerbside general rubbish collection. This will take up space in the collection vehicles needed for general household rubbish.

This decision follows a plea
by the Leader of the County Council this morning for residents to follow
government advice and stay home to save lives.
